Frame rate in HW trigger mode
AnsweredHi!
1. I have a question about what frame rates I can operate in HW trigger mode at when taking into account the data sheet.
My setting:
BFS-U3-120S4C-CS camera
4000*3000 Full frame image
Rolling Shutter
BayerRG12p (12-bit) format
Hardware triggering
Looking at the the spec of the BFS-U3-120S4C-CS (http://softwareservices.flir.com/BFS-U3-120S4/latest/Model/spec.html) I can see that the provided frame rate for my setting is 15FPS, however, am I correct in understanding that in HW trigger mode I can only expect 7.5FPS when using the rolling shutter configuration according to the following document:
2. For the same setting as in 1 how would the expected FPS change in the region between 4000*3000 and 1920*1200?
Is it linear? For example can I expect 3000*1600 frame size to work at roughly 24FPS (or 12FPS depending on the answer to 1)?

Hi Dima,
I was testing the BFS-U3-120S4C-CS with the settings you mentioned above and I was able to trigger it at 18 fps. The more recent Sony CMOS sensors can be triggered faster than the sensors referenced in the article. Please note that you should set TriggerOverlap = "Read Out" and increase the Device Link Throughput Limit.
The behavior when setting a region of interest is not linear. This is why we have some common resolutions in our specifications. Other resolutions we need to test. Please see these results when hardware triggering the camera:
4000 x 3000 - 18 fps
3000 x 1600 - 33 fps
1920 x 1200 - 33 fpsBest Regards,
