Serial Port on opto-isolated input/output pins?
AnsweredHi,
Wondering if the FLIR Blackfly S serial port can be directed to the opto-isolated output/input pins (pins 2 and 4 or Line 0 and 1).
I am assuming this is possible as I see these are valid enumeration values in the Serial Port Source control.
Thanks.

Hello Rahul,
Yes, you are correct. For the BFS cameras, you can select any appropriate line for the serial port Rx and Tx.
Note that only line2 is bi-directional, so of course you can not set up line3 (non-isolated input) as a transmit line.
Using opto pins could affect the delay a bit, and therefore you may not be able to use very high baud rates on the opto pins, but at normal baud rates, both should work fine.
Please remember to use the appropriate ground pins or tie the opto and non-opto ground together.

This is for the following models:
BFS-PGE-04S2C-CS BFS-PGE-16S2C-CS BFS-PGE-23S3C-C BFS-PGE-31S4C-C 0 -
Got it. Thanks!
