Using the 3.3V Output with the opto-in circuit
AnsweredHello,
I would like to use the 3.3V signal from pin 3 on my Blackfly S to trigger the camera. My thought was to pass the signal through a relay controlled by another circuit, so that when the relay closes, it passes the current through a resistor into the opto-in (pin2). Is the 3.3V ground the same as the DC ground (pin6) to where I would have to connect pins 5 and 6, or will the opto-ground (pin 5) suffice to complete the circuit? Potentially complicating things, I'd also like to power the camera from the GPIO (pins 1 and 6). Thanks for your time.

Hello CP,
The 3.3V is in reference to Camera Power Ground (pin 6), so you need to connect pin 5 and 6.
How does the signal from the other circuit look like? If it matches the specification of the opto-isolated input, you might be able to feed it directly into pin 2 to trigger the camera. Please let me know if this helps.
Thanks,

Unfortunately the external circuit is running outside of the opto-in spec, and can't really be modified. Thank you Markus for your help. It is appreciated.
