Using LadybugCapPro for Ladybug3 camera on a Windows 11 OS
AnsweredI'm trying to use the LadybugCapPro software with the Ladybug3 camera I recently purchased on my Windows 11 machine. However, I keep encountering the following errors when selecting the camera:
ladybugInitializePlus() returned: The requested function is not supported with this software or hardware configuration.
Failed to initialize and start camera.
Error: The requested function is not supported with this software or hardware configuration.
I'm wondering if this issue could be resolved by using a virtual machine (VM) or setting up a dual boot with a different operating system.
Also, which OS is best suited for the Ladybug3 camera and its software?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Borna,
You are correct, the LD3 support was accidently removed from the Ladybug SDK as of Ladybug SDK 1.18. It has been fixed and will be part of the next 1.21 release, but I do not have a timeline for that release yet.
You should be able to use the previous 1.16 SDK release just fine on Windows 11, so I would suggest you try that. Once 1.21 comes out you could upgrade, but there would be limited improvements for the firewire products.
Please help confirm 1.16 works for you if possible.
Thank you,
Demos

Hi Borna,
Happy New Year! Sorry for the delay in response. LadybugCapPro is expected to work with this camera model. Which sdk version is installed in this PC? Have you tried rebooting the system as well as ensuring window 11 is upto date?
If any of these approaches did not help to resolve the issue, to take a deeper look via remote session, please open support ticket with us by using our contact form at https://flir.custhelp.com/app/ask

Hi Ifeanyi,
Happy New Year to you as well!
I've been testing the appropriate Ladybug SDK version on both Windows 11 and Ubuntu (18.04. and 20.04.) across two separate PCs, but unfortunately, I've consistently encountered the error: “Failed to initialize camera (The requested function is not supported with this software or hardware configurations)”. This error appears after selecting the camera in LadybugCapPro on Windows or running LadybugRecorderConsole command on Linux.
The camera is connected to the PC via a Delock PCI Express x1 Card, which includes 2 x external FireWire B and 1 x external FireWire A ports. Here are the PC specs:
- Motherboard: MS-7C75
- RAM: 2x 8GB DDR4
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10600K
- GPU: RTX 3060
- Storage: 256GB SSD
Any assistance or the possibility of a remote session would be greatly appreciated so I will open a support ticket.
Looking forward to your response!
Best regards,
