Sightbase
Is there an option to set the F-stop of the choosen lens? If not, which default F-stop is used in the simulations?
Is there a calculator for the DoF, which can be reached with a choosen setup?
It seems that the configured focus distance and the real position of the object are not considered when simulating the resulting image; only size of effective FoV is simulated. I configured a setup, which should result in a completely unsharp image, but the simulated image was clearly sharp, contrary to all my reasonable experiences. Did I miss a setting which would help to simulate a realistic (un)sharpness in case of a small F-stop value and an inappropriate configuration of focus distance vs. object distance?

Hi Tobias,
Thank you for your question.
SightBase currently offers basic lenses and advanced lenses. An advanced lens simulates focal length, sharpness, depth of field, vignetting, and distortion; while a basic lens focuses solely on focal length to help determine the field of view. All objects in the scene are sharp when using a basic lens.
We are working on displaying the F number and making F-stop configurable for our advanced lenses.

Hello Tobias,
Just to clarify, the lenses in the simulator are labelled as Basic or Advanced, as seen below.
To avoid confusion, we plan to remove the basic lenses shortly, and only have advanced lenses moving forward.
