How to update the firmware on my FL3 U3 from 1.x to 2.x firmware

I have a FL3-U3-32S2C camera that was loaned from Point Grey, but I am having some weird behavior with it. I tried updating the firmware, I am currently on 1.43.3.2 (dated 2013) which is not even listed as a version the camera ever supported, but when I try updating to 2.30.3.0, I get the error:

Loading firmware... please wait...
Update Error:
The following error occurred on camera serial number = 11402026 during the firmware update: 
unsupported device for this firmware

  To update your Flea3 USB3 camera from 1.x to 2.x firmware, you will have to update its firmware to version 2.07.3-01 first.
