FPS in HW trigger mode
AnsweredHi,
I am trying to achieve the same frame rate with HW trigger as SW trigger mode provides.
According to a previous post (https://teledynevisionsolutions.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/12350139184397-Camera-Frame-rate-in-different-trigger-modes), I expect that I could achieve it with trigger overlap.
However when I change from SW to HW trigger the "Resulting Frame Rate" field drops from 19.97 Hz to 12.52 Hz.
Attaching 2 images to illustrate:
Is anything wrong in my setup and can I achieve the same 19.97 HZ while in HW trigger mode?
My setup:
Blackfly S BFS-U3-120S4C
Exposure Time: 50000 us
Trigger Overlap: Read Out
Sensor Shutter Mode: Rolling

Hi Dima,
I assume that by "SW trigger mode" you meant free running, without trigger? the BFS-U3-120S4C-CS uses a rolling shutter sensor. That is why the max trigger frequency is much lower when using the same exposure time, or you will have to considerably lower the exposure time to be able to reach the same frame rate in trigger mode.

Hi Dima,
Have you tried triggering at 19Hz?
Does it help to reduce the exposure time?

Hi Manuel,
When HW triggering at roughly 12 Hz with 50000 us exposure I get all the images
When HW triggering at roughly 13 Hz with 50000 us exposure I lose some of the images.
For my use case I am not interested in reducing the exposure time, actually I would like it to be at around 70000 us but in that case the "Resulting Frame Rate" field drops even more to around 10 Hz.
